Susan dreams of her retirement spent relaxing by a pool in the Spanish sun, but husband Michael would rather move closer to home. He fancies Derbyshire where he could indulge his passions for walking and the British countryside. Their house is sold so they have to move. With a budget of £180,000, the pressure is on Laura and Jasmine to find them a place to retire to, but will they choose home or away?
Tony has already retired and Karin doesn’t want to be far behind him, and they both see their future in a new home. Tony wants to return to the Wirral where they were both born and raised, and where their elderly mothers still live. But Karin is dreaming of a villa in southern Spain, the country where her sister has already settled. It’s down to Laura and Jasmine to help them decide whether it’s home or away.
Rhyl, North Wales/Almeria, Spain
Hilary has recently inherited a tidy sum and wants to invest it in a holiday rental property that she and her family can use. Husband Ray has impaired vision so the property must have good accessibility. But should it be on the north Wales coast not far from their Cheshire home, or should they spread their wings and buy in Spain where the rental income will be higher and the sunshine is more reliable?
Nick and Sarah Tatt are ready to relocate but they can’t decide where. Nick runs his business from home so he wants Laura Hamilton to help them find a new place big enough to accommodate his office. His preference is Cornwall where he spent happy childhood holidays. But Sarah says it’s now or never for a bolder move to Spain, and is drawn to the Lake Viñuela area, north of Malaga in Spain. There are international schools locally and the lifestyle appeals but, with the help of Jasmine Harman, can she persuade Nick to take the plunge?
Graziella Clarke spent a year in Seville as a student and dreams of moving back to live there permanently. But husband Robert thinks relocating to Dorset might be a safer bet. In the end, they want to do what’s best for their children, so will it be a win for the home team represented by Laura Hamilton or away with Jasmine Harman at the helm?
Cheryl and Andy have already re-located to Brighton where they’re renting, to see if they like it. But Cheryl spends the summers working away from home. So should they put their roots down here and buy a flat on the UK’s south coast, or buy a holiday pad in Cadiz where they could spend their winters together in a warmer climate? What is clear is that Cheryl knows exactly what she likes and doesn’t like, and gives Jonnie Irwin and Jasmine Harman a run for their money in the property search.
Tina and Colin are torn between investing £200K in a house in Yorkshire or taking the plunge and moving to Portugal. Tina’s wish list for Laura Hamilton in the Yorkshire includes a garden and somewhere to paint – she’s worried about moving far from her children and grandchildren. However Colin is convinced their future lies in the Alentejo area of Portugal. He thinks the best way to convince Tina he’s right, is to go house hunting with Jasmine Harman.
Yorkshire Dales/Algarve, Portugal
Property experts Laura Hamilton and Jasmine Harman help Omar and Yvonne decide where to buy their dream B&B. Yvonne feels drawn to Yorkshire and is convinced they could afford a house large enough to take guests on their £300K budget. While Omar wants to enjoy a warmer climate in Portugal, but on a smaller budget of £200K.
Steve and Jackie Parkes are in the fortunate position of being able to shop for a new property at home and away. With a total budget of over a million pounds to spend, their main stipulation to Laura Hamilton is that the home property must be able to house Jackie’s elderly parents. The holiday home they’re looking for on the Algarve with Jasmine Harman is to be a bolt-hole to get away from it all.
Lake District/Sitges Spain
With £250k in the bank, Steven and Stuart want to buy a second home which they can rent out when they’re not using it. The only problem is where? Will property expert Luke Doonan convince them to buy in the Lake District, or will Laura Hamilton find them their dream holiday apartment in Sitges on Spain’s Costa Dorada?
Lake District/Eastern Pyrenees, France
Andrew and Lesley Breeze want a complete lifestyle change. They’re keen to run a B&B but they can’t decide whether to start their new business in the Lake District or move to the Eastern Pyrenees in France. Coming from flat Norfolk, one thing is for sure – they want to have mountains to enjoy wherever they move to. Luke Doonan shows them suitable properties in the UK and Laura Hamilton tries to tempt them with the French lifestyle on offer to them.
French teacher Carol has been dreaming of retiring to France for years, but husband Stephen is wary of French inheritance laws and thinks they should play it safe and move to Cornwall. Wherever they buy, there has to be room to park their beloved motorhome Harry.
Andy is looking for a new adventure in France, and being a bit of a DIY man, fancies a project. But his other half Jo is having none of it. She wants a brand new house in Surrey, close to her friends and family. Having raised most of their six children in Scotland, Geordie Phil wants to move back to his roots in Northumberland. But Liz is dreaming of a warmer lifestyle in south west France with their two youngest children. Wherever they buy, the property must have plenty of land, and enough room for Phil’s parents to move in with them. Luke Doonan and Jasmine Harman present.
Colne Estuary/Canal Du Midi
Today’s house hunters want to downsize so they can live a more a stress-free lifestyle somewhere close to a waterway – they both want to continue to indulge their love of barges and canals. Lisa imagines relocating to the familiar Colne Estuary, and wants Laura Hamilton to help them find their perfect pad close to the water. But her partner Michael is drawn to the more exotic Canal du Midi and is banking on Jasmine Harman to help make his property dreams come true.
Folkstone, Kent/Agde, France
Paul and Ann Cruxton are dreaming of a fresh start somewhere new for their retirement. Ann is drawn to the Folkestone area of Kent where presenter Luke Doonan shows them 3 suitable properties. But Paul wants to cross the channel and settle in southern France where Laura Hamilton charms them with what they could afford on their £300K budget.
Bude, Cornwall/Beziers, France
Mother of two Ruth wants to invest in a holiday home. Her younger daughter Anni wants to persuade her to buy in Cornwall with the help of property expert Luke Doonan. But Ruth loves all things French and thinks she’d rather put her money into a French property, which she might eventually retire to. Laura Hamilton is tasked with finding Ruth’s dream home in the south of France.
West Dorset/Istria, Croatia
With a maximum budget of £200K, Chris and Milton want to relocate somewhere they can grow their own veg and indulge their love of culture. Chris is inspired by the reputation of Croatia and wants a big adventure while Milton sees them settling closer to home in Dorset. Presenters Laura Hamilton and Jasmine Harman show them a variety of properties to whet their appetites home and away before they have to make their big decision.
Falmouth, Cornwall/Kotor, Montenegro
Today’s house hunters married 3 years ago in magical Montenegro and Lisa now wants to buy a place there. But Tony thinks they’d make more use of a holiday home in Cornwall. Presenters Laura Hamilton and Jasmine Harman each choose 3 properties to tempt them with, on a budget of £250K.
After being recently widowed, Jan wants a fresh start. But should she move closer to her much loved sister Chris in Kent, or take the bolder step of buying a wreck in Italy which would provide her with a project to keep her busy? Presenter Laura Hamilton finds some lovely homely properties to tempt Jan with a relocation in Kent, while Jasmine Harman meets up with the two sisters in Abruzzo to show Jan what would be possible on her £100K budget there.
The contrasting locations of Bournemouth and Sicily provide food for thought for today’s house hunters, Paul and Chris. They currently run a B&B in northern France, but are ready for a slower pace of life somewhere new. But they can’t decide whether to come home to the UK and settle in the Bournemouth area, or move to Sicily where Paul has briefly lived before. Presenters Laura Hamilton and Luke Doonan are on hand to help sort out their relocation dilemma.
High flying creative couple Victor and Penny have finished renovating their London home and are ready to invest in a holiday home – they want somewhere to relax and get away from it all. Victor would like an easy commute to a weekend retreat in Kent, where presenter Laura Hamilton must come up with the perfect property. But Penny has fallen in love with Florence where she already spends a month each year. Presenter Jonnie Irwin focuses on the centre of this glorious city for his property search, and unearths some dazzling finds.
Sevenoaks, Kent/Lunigiana, Italy
Newly married Ed and Clare are planning to start a family soon and want a larger home to bring up their children in. Ed wants to raise his family in Italy where he grew up, and Jonnie Irwin finds them some lovely rural properties to consider on their £250K budget. But Clare wants to be close to her family and support network as motherhood beckons, so she’s asked Laura Hamilton to find them suitable properties in the Sevenoaks area of Kent.
New grandparents Geoff and Barbara are looking for a second home to enjoy with their growing family. Luke Doonan helps them with their house hunt in Devon which Barbara favours. But Geoff imagines the sunshine and space that would come with a holiday home in southern France and hopes that one of the properties Jasmine Harman comes up with, will persuade Barbara to buy abroad.
Tunbridge Wells/Nice, France
Chris and Sue are torn between downsizing locally in Tunbridge Wells, or starting a completely new life in the south of France. The temptation is to stay put and enjoy retirement in a smaller home in the town they know and love, and Luke Doonan shows them a range of property options. But Jasmine Harman is ready to prise them away from the familiar, and shows them what their money could buy them on the Cote D’Azur.
Workaholics David and Karen want to buy a place to escape to on a budget of £130,000. Their ideal bolt-hole must have room to house Karen’s Austrian-born mother. Karen feels they’d make more use of a place in Dorset, and Laura Hamilton comes up with some interesting options for them to consider. But it’s David who’s been seduced by Austria over the years, and Jasmine Harman shows them what their money could buy them in or around the Alpine city of Graz.
It’s Brighton versus Montpellier on today’s show with Sue and Cliff torn between which of these vibrant cities to move to. Jonnie Irwin tries to tempt them with what’s on offer in the Brighton area favoured by Cliff, while Laura Hamilton shows them what their £300K budget would buy them in southern France where Sue dreams of running a small B&B.

Triathletes Ron and Mel have no intention of slowing down in their retirement but they would like to change where they live. They plan to sell the family home and buy two new properties with the proceeds. They’re looking for a smaller house in the area of Kent where they currently live, and a ski chalet in the French Alps where they can enjoy winter and summer sports with friends and family.
Sheila has lived in the same house nearly all her life and husband Fred has lived there since they got married over 40 years ago. So this is the first time they have ever been house hunting. Sheila feels drawn to Bodmin where she spent happy childhood holidays. But Fred is up for an even bigger adventure and a move to France. Luke Doonan and Jasmine Harman help them come to a decision about where to go.
It’s a case of Home and Away in today’s show. Brian and Chantal are selling the family home and want to buy two news homes for the price of one. Jonnie Irwin helps to find a smaller home in the Cirencester area where they already live, so Chantal can remain close to her eagerly awaited first grandchild. Laura Hamilton looks for a second home in Western France where Brian would happily spend most of his retirement.
A peaceful retirement is beckoning Kimm and Tony, but from two different directions. Kimm is drawn to the French way of life she could enjoy in the Dordogne, whereas Tony has his eye on Shropshire, an area that’s familiar and beautiful. House hunting with Jonnie Irwin at home and Laura Hamilton away, should help them decide which destination would be right for them.
Nicki Burridge is a first time buyer from Guernsey. She has savings for her deposit in the bank, and a mortgage lined up. But she can’t decide whether to buy in her home town of St Peter Port or further afield in the Vendee region of western France where she hopes to eventually settle. Luke Doonan and Laura Hamilton show her some options to help her make up her mind.
Lucy and Chris are contemplating a fresh start which would involve opening a new business. But they’re torn between setting up an equine B&B in mid-Wales which Lucy is keen on, or a mountain biking business in the Alpujarras in southern Spain, where Chris wants to go. Jonnie Irwin shows them some idyllic rural Welsh properties, and Jasmine Harman finds plenty to tempt them in Spain.
Bob and Jeanette have already sold up and are renting in Cornwall to see if they want to settle there. Jeanette’s pretty sure she does, but Bob’s got itchy feet and wants to move to southern Spain. With cash in the bank, they’re desperate to resolve their dilemma. Jonnie Irwin shows them the merits of Cornwall, while Jasmine Harman finds some amazing properties to tempt them to Spain.
Gail and Clive married three years ago and want to buy a new home together to enjoy their retirement. Gail wants to go back to her roots and move to the West Coast of Scotland, where Jonnie Irwin is on hand to help find her perfect new home. But Clive is craving some sun and heat, and has his eye on southern Spain where Jasmine Harman shows them what’s on offer.
Lynn and Kerry are serial renovators and are ready for their next move. Lynn would like to take on a new project in the Chelmsford area where they currently live. But Kerry would prefer to do something completely different and wants to start a snorkeling business in Mallorca. They house hunt with the help of Sara Damergi in rural Essex, and Jasmine Harman in Mallorca.
Steve and his French wife Caroline have spent many years living abroad and Steve’s quite happy to settle back in the UK. He’s hoping, with the help of Sara Damergi, to tempt Caroline to a more settled future in the Oxford area where she could indulge her love of culture. But Caroline’s got itchy feet and wants to move permanently abroad and hopes Jasmine Harman might find them their perfect new home in Spain.
A place in the sun for Richard means somewhere in Devon where he’s not too far from family, friends and football. But Jackie’s ideal place would be in southern Spain, preferably with a garden she could get her green fingers stuck into. Jonnie Irwin comes up with some Devon gardens to tempt Jackie to stay here, while Jasmine Harman shows Richard that property in Spain is hard to beat.
Three generations of the same family are on the move together. Dad John holds the purse strings but he can’t decide whether to buy a suitable property for their unusual requirements in the Colchester area of Essex. His daughter Lucy is pushing for the Algarve where her partner comes from. But wherever they go, there must be room to house Grandad as well. Sara Damergi and Laura Hamilton help them make up their minds.
North Cornwall has always had a big appeal for Graham who wants to buy a holiday home there. But his wife Pat wants to be able to enjoy winters in the mild climate of Madeira. Sara Damergi shows them some tempting options at home while Laura Hamilton opens their eyes to the possibilities in Madeira.
Flo has been inspired by a holiday to Madeira to make a permanent move there, but husband Andrew who’s already retired, sees himself a little closer to home in Yorkshire. Sara Damergi and Laura Hamilton help this divided couple decide which location would be right for them.
